Requirements

  • Complete the Barbarian Test Quest first

  • Be prepared for long travel between Svargrond, Tiquanda, Venore, Tyrsung, Okolnir, Helheim and Formorgar Mines
  • The deepest Formorgar Mines contain Demons, Behemoths, Plaguesmiths, Destroyers, Nightmares and Lost Souls

Quest Notes

The complete Tibia 8.0 northern questline. Help the people of Svargrond and Nibelor, sabotage the hunters on Tyrsung, cure Nilsor's sled dogs, investigate Helheim and uncover the cultists' plan inside Formorgar Mines. The final reward is the Norseman base outfit and permanent access to the quest routes.

Objective: Complete all twelve missions in strict order, mark the four Formorgar obelisks with the Spirit Charm of Cold and report to Hjaern.

Outfit Method

  1. Complete the required access first: Barbarian Test Quest, Norseman Outfits Quest.
  2. Collect every item listed in Required materials before starting the turn-in.
  3. Go to Iskan in/near Svargrond / Nibelor / Tyrsung / Helheim / Formorgar Mines.
  4. Say: hi, first the ice islands quest addon, yes. The NPC removes the first-addon materials and unlocks the first addon.
  5. Say: hi, second the ice islands quest addon, yes. The NPC removes the second-addon materials and unlocks the second addon.
  6. Open Set Outfit on your character and enable the unlocked addon(s).

Walkthrough

  1. Complete the Barbarian Test Quest before beginning. Iskan and the northern transport network will not accept an unproven outsider.
  2. Follow the twelve mission cards below in order. Always return to the NPC who assigned the current mission before trying to start the next one.
  3. Keep every mission item until the page explicitly tells you it has been consumed or the mission has been reported.
  4. For the final Formorgar route, travel with a team or clear slowly. The objective is to mark four different obelisks; killing the monsters is not itself a quest requirement.

Complete Step-by-Step Guide

Prerequisite — Barbarian Test

Become an honorary barbarian before starting the Ice Islands chain.

  1. Complete all three trials given by Sven: Barbarian Booze, Bear Hugging and Mammoth Pushing.
  2. Report the final test to Sven. He must recognise you as an honorary barbarian.
  3. Only after this should you speak with Iskan about a mission.

Mission 1 — Befriending the Musher

Find Iskan's missing dog and earn passage to Nibelor.

  1. Find Iskan in Svargrond. Say hi, mission, yes. He explains that Sniffler ran away and gives you a piece of Meat.
  2. Find A Starving Dog near Svargrond. Say hi, sniffler, meat. One Meat is removed and the dog recognises its name.
  3. Return to Iskan and say hi, mission, yes.
  4. After the report, ask Iskan for Nibelor and confirm the passage whenever you need to travel there.

Mission 2 — Nibelor 1: Breaking the Ice

Expose the Chakoya tunnels beneath Nibelor.

  1. Travel to Nibelor through Iskan and find Hjaern.
  2. Say hi, mission, yes. Hjaern asks you to test unstable ice around the island.
  3. Use the Pick on three different unstable ice points. Each valid point cracks and releases Chakoyas.
  4. You do not need to kill the summoned Chakoyas for quest credit, but clear them if they block the route.
  5. Return to Hjaern and say hi, mission, yes.

Mission 3 — Nibelor 2: Ecological Terrorism

Release termites inside the hunters' ship on Tyrsung.

  1. Speak with Siflind on Nibelor and say hi, mission, yes. She gives you a Special Jug.
  2. Travel to Tiquanda and use the empty jug on a valid termite mound. It becomes a jug filled with termites.
  3. Travel with Buddel to Tyrsung and enter the hunters' ship.
  4. Reach the lower deck and use the filled jug on the base of the correct mast.
  5. Return to Siflind and say hi, mission, yes.

Mission 4 — Nibelor 3: Artful Sabotage

Ruin three different baby seal pelts with Siflind's paint.

  2. Return to Tyrsung and locate the baby seals.
  3. Use the paint on three different baby seals. A painted seal temporarily changes appearance while the paint freezes.

Mission 5 — Nibelor 4: Berserk Brewery

Deliver Siflind's brewing ingredients in the exact order requested.

  4. Use the Spoon on an inactive lava hole to collect Fine Sulphur.
  5. Use the Kitchen Knife on a Frostbite Plant during the night to collect Frostbite Herb.
  6. Use the Kitchen Knife on a Purple Kiss Bush during the day to collect its blossom.
  7. Buy one Hydra Tongue from Rose in Venore for 100 gp.
  8. Use the Spoon on a Giant Glimmercap Mushroom to collect its spores.
  9. Return to Nilsor and deliver the seven ingredients as he requests them. Finish by saying mission and yes.
  10. The cured dogs permanently unlock the Dog Sled routes. Carry Ham whenever you use a sled.

Mission 7 — The Secret of Helheim

Investigate the necromantic altar below Helheim.

  1. Return to Hjaern after curing the dogs and ask for a mission.
  2. Hjaern authorises you to investigate Helheim.
  3. Speak with Buddel and request Helheim. Confirm the trip. A Dwarven Ring helps prevent his drunken navigation mistake.
  4. Descend through Helheim past Ghouls, Mummies, Bonebeasts, Bonelords, Elder Bonelords and Braindeaths.
  5. Step onto the discovery tile directly in front of the necromantic altar. The message confirms that you found the altar.
  6. Return to Hjaern and report the mission.

Mission 8 — The Contactman

Recover Nor's Memory Crystal and wait for Lurik to analyse it.

  1. After reporting Helheim to Hjaern, find Lurik in Svargrond and say hi, mission, yes.
  2. Travel to the barbarian camp and find Nor, the undercover contact.
  3. Speak quietly: say hi, memory crystal. Nor gives you the crystal.
  4. Return to Lurik and say hi, mission, yes. The Memory Crystal is removed.
  5. Wait five real minutes, then speak with Lurik again and ask for a mission.
  6. Lurik finishes the analysis and opens the Formorgar Mines investigation stage.

Mission 9 — Formorgar Mines 1: The Mission

Find the dead miner's message and learn the name Tylaf.

  1. Enter Formorgar Mines after Lurik completes the Memory Crystal analysis.
  2. Follow the mine route until you locate the quest skeleton or pile of bones containing the written clue.
  3. Use the quest container and take/read the document. The important name is Tylaf, apprentice of Hjaern.
  4. Return to Hjaern and say hi, tylaf.
  5. Hjaern enables you to understand Tylaf's restless spirit.

Mission 10 — Formorgar Mines 2: Ghostwhisperer

Listen to Tylaf's story inside the mines.

Missions 11-12 — The Secret and Retaliation

Mark the four obelisks and stop the cultists' plan.

  2. Hjaern gives you the Spirit Charm of Cold and asks you to mark four special obelisks in the deepest Formorgar Mines.
  3. Return to Formorgar Mines. The final route contains Crystal Spiders, Nightmares, Destroyers, Plaguesmiths, Lost Souls, Behemoths and Demons.
  4. Use the Spirit Charm of Cold on each of the four different quest obelisks. Every valid use displays a confirmation message and blue ice effect.
  5. Do not leave after marking only one or two. Confirm that all four distinct obelisks have reacted.
  6. Return to Hjaern and say hi, mission, yes.
  7. Hjaern accepts the completed retaliation, grants the Norseman base outfit and finishes The Ice Islands Quest.

Dathoria Tips

  • Prepare all five Berserk Brewery deliveries before starting that section to avoid repeated trips.
  • Buy the Spoon, Kitchen Knife and Hydra Tongue during the same Venore visit.
  • Carry several Hams and a Dwarven Ring when travelling with Buddel or using Dog Sleds.
  • Use a team for the deepest Formorgar Mines. One player may clear monsters, but every character must personally use the charm on all four obelisks.
  • Before leaving any mission area, check the Quest Log for the updated objective. This prevents long return trips caused by a missed tile or object.
  • Never throw away the Special Jug, Vial of Paint, Nilsor's Waterskin, Memory Crystal or Spirit Charm while their mission is active.
