Explorer Society bases and worldwide expedition sites / Access / Questline
Four ranks and a strict final sequence: complete every mission in the current rank, report each objective and keep all tools until the NPC accepts them. The Icicle lasts only ten minutes.

Requirements

  • Premium Account is required.
  • There is no formal level requirement, but the route crosses Dwacatra, Folda, Chor, Orc Fortress, Hellgate, Banuta, Ghostlands, Calassa, Frozen Trench and Okolnir.
  • Bring Rope, Shovel, Pick, Dwarven Ring and enough healing supplies for long expeditions.
  • Complete the three missions of each rank before advancing. The final Explorer missions must be completed in strict order.
  • Calassa requires Relic Hunter rank or higher. Frozen Trench additionally requires the necessary Ice Islands Quest progress.
  • Keep every quest tool and mission item until the assigning NPC accepts it.

Quest Notes

Join the Explorer Society, rise through Novice, Journeyman, Relic Hunter and Explorer ranks, recover relics from dangerous locations, activate the astral portal network and complete the optional Calassa and Svargrond expeditions.

Objective: Complete every mission in its proper rank, report each objective to Angus or Mortimer, activate both main carvings and then finish the Calassa, Frozen Trench, Island of Dragons and Ice Music expeditions.

Walkthrough

  1. Join through Angus in Port Hope or Mortimer in Northport. Recover Uzgod's Family Brooch from Dwacatra, exchange it for the Dwarven Pickaxe and deliver the pickaxe to your Explorer Society representative.
  2. Complete the three Novice missions: Ice Delivery, Butterfly Hunt and Plant Collection. Report every finished objective.
  3. Complete the three Journeyman missions: Lizard Urn, Bonelord Secrets and Orc Powder.
  4. Complete the three Relic Hunter missions: Elven Poetry, Memory Stone and Rune Writings.
  5. Complete the Explorer sequence in strict order: Ectoplasm, Spectral Dress, Research Reports, Spectral Stone and both Astral Portal carvings.
  6. After the main portal network is complete, speak with Berenice for Calassa. Recover the Damaged Logbook from the shipwreck.
  7. Continue with Lurik in Svargrond for Frozen Trench, Island of Dragons and Ice Music, then use the secondary Liberty Bay/Svargrond portal network.

Complete step-by-step
  1. Find Angus in Port Hope or Mortimer in Northport. Say hi, join, yes.
  2. Travel to Kazordoon and speak with Uzgod. Ask about pickaxe and accept the task involving his stolen Family Brooch.
  3. Reach Dwacatra through the prison route. Recover the Family Brooch from its personal quest chest.
  4. Return to Uzgod and say brooch, yes. He removes the brooch and gives you a Dwarven Pickaxe.
  5. Return to Angus or Mortimer and say pickaxe, yes. The pickaxe is removed and you receive Novice rank.

Rank I — Novice

Ice Delivery, Butterfly Hunt and Plant Collection may be active together.

Complete step-by-step
  1. Ice Delivery: ask for ice delivery and receive the Ice Pick. Use it on the special ice formation in Folda to create an Icicle.
  2. Return immediately: the Icicle lasts only ten minutes. Say ice delivery, yes to hand it in.
  3. Butterfly Hunt: ask for butterfly hunt and receive the kit. Use it on fresh Purple, Blue and Red Butterfly corpses in that order.
  4. Report Butterfly Hunt after all three specimens are collected.
  5. Plant Collection: ask for plant collection and receive the Botanist's Container.
  6. Use the container on Jungle Bells, Witches Cauldron and Giant Jungle Rose in the required sequence, then report the mission.
  7. After all three reports, Angus or Mortimer promotes you to Journeyman.

Rank II — Journeyman

Recover three relics from Chor, Darashia and Orc Fortress.

  1. Lizard Urn: accept the mission, travel to Chor and collect the Funeral Urn from the protected quest chest. Return and report lizard urn.
  2. Bonelord Secrets: accept the mission, enter the Dark Pyramid near Darashia and recover the Wrinkled Parchment. Return and report bonelord secrets.
  3. Orc Powder: accept the mission, fight through Orc Fortress and collect the Strange Powder. Return and report orc powder.
  4. After all three reports, you are promoted to Relic Hunter.

Rank III — Relic Hunter

Search Hellgate, Edron Northern Ruins and Banuta.

  1. Elven Poetry: accept the mission and recover Songs of the Forest from Hellgate. Key 3012 may be needed along the route. Return and report elven book or the offered mission keyword.
  2. Memory Stone: accept the mission, travel to Edron Northern Ruins and recover the legitimate Memory Stone from its quest location. Return and report memory stone.
  3. Rune Writings: accept the mission and receive Tracing Paper. Travel deep into Banuta and use it on the unique rune structure.
  4. Return the completed tracing to Angus or Mortimer. After all three reports, you receive Explorer rank.

Rank IV — Explorer and Astral Portals

These missions must be completed in strict order.

Complete step-by-step
  1. Ectoplasm: accept the mission, receive an Ectoplasm Container, kill a Ghost and use the container on its fresh corpse. Return and report.
  2. Spectral Dress: accept the next mission, visit The Queen of the Banshees and say spectral dress. After she grants permission, collect the dress from the authorized chest and return it.
  3. Research Reports: your representative sends you to the opposite Explorer Society base. Speak with that representative, then return to the original base.
  4. Receive the Spectral Stone. Use it on the glowing carving at your original base, then travel to the opposite base and use it on the second carving.
  5. Return to the representative and report mission. The main quest is complete and you receive 6 Orichalcum Pearls.
  6. The Port Hope ↔ Northport portal is now available. Every trip requires Premium and consumes exactly one Orichalcum Pearl.

Calassa Expedition — Damaged Logbook

Optional Explorer Society expedition unlocked through Berenice.

Complete step-by-step
  1. After reaching Relic Hunter rank or higher, find Berenice in Liberty Bay. Say hi, mission, calassa, yes, yes.
  2. Speak with Captain Max in Liberty Bay and travel to Calassa for 200 gp.
  3. In Calassa, obtain a Helmet of the Deep from Captain Max by paying the 5,000 gp deposit. Equip it before entering underwater tiles.
  4. Reach the shipwreck, use a Pick on the special hatch and enter the wreck.
  5. Collect the Damaged Logbook from its personal quest chest.
  6. Return to Berenice and report the Calassa mission.
  7. Return the rented Helmet of the Deep to Captain Max when finished to recover the recorded deposit.

Svargrond Expeditions — Frozen Trench, Dragons and Ice Music

Complete Lurik's three expeditions after the required Calassa and Ice Islands progress.

Complete step-by-step
  1. Frozen Trench: speak with Lurik and accept the mission. Travel with Buddel to Tyrsung, reach the southern ship and enter the water with Helmet of the Deep equipped.
  2. Cross Frozen Trench until the missing frozen explorer is discovered automatically at the correct tile. Return to Lurik and report.
  3. Island of Dragons: accept the next expedition, travel to Okolnir and interact with the frozen dragon to obtain a Scale from a Frozen Dragon.
  4. Return the scale to Lurik for 50 Platinum Coins.
  5. Ice Music: accept the final expedition and receive a Resonance Crystal. Use it on the unique ice stalagmite until the crystal records the music.
  6. Return to Lurik. This unlocks the Liberty Bay ↔ Svargrond astral portal. Every trip consumes one Orichalcum Pearl.

  • Accept all three missions available in your current rank before leaving the society base to reduce travel.
  • Prepare Folda, Chor, Darashia, Orc Fortress, Hellgate, Edron and Banuta routes in advance.
  • Carry a Dwarven Ring for invisible creatures and extra Rope/Shovel/Pick tools.
  • Do not postpone Ice Delivery: the Icicle disappears after ten minutes.
  • Keep at least two Orichalcum Pearls after completion so you can test both directions of each unlocked portal.
