Rookie Town Lore
From refuge to forgotten island—and from silence to a new beginning.
Dathoria • Rookgaard Endgame

The Chronicle of Rookie Town

The complete history preserved by The Wise Guardian: why the town was created, how danger isolated it and how family, courage and chosen bonds gave it a future.

I — A Choice Beyond the Oracle

The First Rookstayers

Rookie Town began with adventurers who reached the age of choice but did not see Rookgaard as a place to abandon. To them, remaining was not failure—it was freedom. They crossed the sea and founded a refuge where permanent Rookgaard citizens could build a life of their own.

The settlement rose around an ancient spring watched by Minondas and Mandiokin. Sir Joshue’s craft shaped its roads and walls; farms supplied the harbour; merchants prepared explorers; and the Rookbeards mapped passages beneath the island.

II — The Years of Growth

The Crown

The Grand Rookie King was once keeper of the central bridge. During the first great attack, the council fled—but he remained, organised shelters, rationed food and carried the wounded himself. The citizens followed him before anyone called him king.

The Memory

His brother refused a second crown. He became The Wise Guardian, believing that a city without memory would repeat every old mistake. His library contains the names, choices and losses that shaped the island.

The Ancients

Mandiokin placed the stone circlet upon the King as a burden of service. Minondas guarded strength; Mandiokin guarded spirit. Their law remains: power belongs to those who stay, and protection to those who serve.

III — How the Town Was Forgotten

The Island Closes

Deeper mining routes brought Dwarfs and Rotworms. Orcs and Trolls moved through abandoned approaches. Amazons claimed the eastern mountain, while unnatural cold covered the northern heights.

Then Grumbar Rookbeard began hearing the underground river whisper that the town belonged to him. He attacked his nephew Coward and shattered the family that had guarded the caves. Deaths mounted, ships stopped sailing and Rookgaard slowly treated the island as a place best forgotten.

IV — The Return of the Ship

Coward Returns

The name “Coward” hides the truth: his fear saved his life. After years in Rookgaard, he returned to its southern harbour with the only seaworthy vessel and enough courage to warn others about the place he could not forget.

His brother Brave remained at Rookie Town’s dock, still searching for answers. Their father Baldrik guards the cave. Through one trusted adventurer, their separated words can finally cross the sea.

V — The Traveller Who Chose to Stay

Lady Fabby

Traveller • Healer • Guardian of peaceful homes

When the sea route lived again, it carried more than returning adventurers. Lady Fabby arrived after years of travelling throughout Mainland, bringing knowledge of distant cities, the work of honest craftsmen and a rare spiritual strength. Yet beneath all she had learned remained the loneliness of someone who had never found a place—or a person—that truly felt like home.

Pretty Natty’s Chosen Sister

Fabby found that home in Pretty Natty. Their friendship formed almost immediately: two women who recognised the weight the other carried and offered a patient shoulder without demanding an explanation. They became inseparable best friends and sisters by choice, able to understand one another even in silence.

Donna Meiry recognised Fabby’s gift and welcomed her as one healer welcoming another. She taught Fabby that power is most valuable when used for compassion, protection and peace.

A Permanent Place in the City

For the first time, Lady Fabby no longer wished to continue travelling. She opened her permanent house decoration shop at 31803, 32465, 7 so she could remain near Pretty Natty and contribute to the town that had welcomed her.

The Blessing of a Peaceful Home

Fabby selects only decorations of clean and honest origin. Before each piece is sold, she blesses it as a symbol of peace, warmth and tranquillity for its new home. This spiritual tradition is part of her story and is separate from Ancient Mandiokin’s five protection blessings.

Rookie Town lives again. Its future now belongs not only to those born into its old families, but also to those who deliberately choose it as their home—just as Lady Fabby did.

Rookgaard can be more than your beginning.
